The tie rod attaches to the rack & pinion steering gear and the spindle. Tie rods (inner/outer) enable the vehicles Tyres to rotate left & right. Often the main reason for "loose" steering is attributed to a worn inner tie rod. This will cause the steering wheel to turn to a certain degree without coordinative movement in the wheels, therefore replacement is necessary.
